PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Matt has spent 25 years in Japan, working across four industries for both multinational and Japanese companies. In recent years he has worked closely with National Geographic, History Channel, NHK WORLD Japan, as well as Japan's environment and tourism ministries to promote Amami Island, which achieved Natural World Heritage status in 2021.

Matt has guided all walks of life from couples, families and university professors to pro athletes and diplomats.

SAFETY IS A TOP PRIORITY

Amami Island is truly a remote destination. Up-to-date knowledge and local experience combined with the latest equipment and safety gear are critical to ensure guests are safe and comfortable. Matt believes in providing a worry-free and enjoyable experience.
